African symbols known as adinkra are ubiquitous in Ghana, a beautiful West African country on the Atlantic, situated between Cote d’Ivoire and Togo. On cloth and walls, in pottery and logos, these Asante tribe symbols can be found everywhere.
They also can be used to communicate evocative messages that represent parts of their life or those around them.
The Adinkra symbols of the Ashanti in Ghana are timeless and still used today. There are contradictory views as to their origin and age. The name “Adinkra” can probably be traced back to the word “Dinkra” of the Akan/Twi Language, which is spoken by the Ashanti. “Dinkra” means: being separated, taking leave, saying farewell.
The symbols have a decorative function but also represent objects that encapsulate evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom, aspects of life or the environment. There are many different symbols with distinct meanings, often linked with proverbs.
Which symbol attracts you the most, or draws you toward it? Let’s see what it says for you:
No. 1 “Harmony”
You are one of those who like to exaggerate- the good, the bad, and everything in between. You tend to absorb everything around you and can be overly self-conscious at times. Even minor events can cause a storm of emotions in your life, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Don’t keep everything to yourself, but at the same time learn to calm down, look at things logically. Emotions are good, but there needs to be balance.
If you chose this symbol of harmony, then in the near future something positive that you have been working toward will come to fruition, but you MUST find the balance first.
No. 2 “Spider web”
Be prepared – serious changes are coming! In a sense, everything in your life will start from scratch. Gather and concentrate all your energy and strength to focus on yourself. You have a chance to make drastic changes. The only thing is you must abandon your old bad habits and stereotypes!
You have a tendency to be your own worst enemy, and it is time for that to stop. Be your own best friend, you own soul mate, your own family. Realize that you can do this on your own and the only person standing in your way, is YOU. The spider’s web is reminding you that you are capable of creating the life you want.
No. 3 “Protection”
Love is waiting for you, whether it is a true friendship, or a romantic involvement, your heart is ready to sing. You have been burned more than once, – it was lonely and cold, but all that will soon come to an end. Happiness will find you. In the meantime, give your smile, love and care to those around you.
What we give back will definitely return to us. It is very important to know that something good is waiting for you in this life. Or someone… The protection symbol reminds you that you are being watched over and all of the things you have been feeling worried or depressed about will be resolved.
